Reviewing The All New 2015 Ford Mondeo

All New 2015 Mondeo lands at Peoples Ford

Ford’s Mondeo is one of the most recognisable family cars on the road today, and the manufacturer has now released an update for 2015. The all-new model has generated plenty of excitement prior to its arrival, with new engines and advanced tech included, and now you have the opportunity to experience it for yourself through a test from Peoples Ford.

A modern new look

The most striking change to the all-new Ford Mondeo is its overall look, which Ford has brought in line with its new styling signature. The grille and light arrangement follow the carmaker’s Kinetic Design language, while polished exhaust pipes and LED lamps are touches of luxury. The dimensions haven’t changed from the current Ford Mondeo, but Ford has lowered the new arrival by four centimetres to give it a sportier profile. What’s more, the bodywork is smooth and refined, while the pillars are slimmer to add to the sleek finish.

The cabin has also been given an upmarket feel, with the dashboard simplified for a better user experience. As What Car? notes, it’s a big improvement over the current arrangement, as its not only easier to see in bright conditions but also quicker to respond. A new eight-inch touchscreen now dominates the dashboard and it incorporates most of the car’s infotainment functions.

New engines, improved economy and emissions

For drive, Ford offers a new 1.5-litre Ecoboost petrol engine that produces similar output to the existing 1.6-litre Ecoboost, but with improved fuel economy and emissions. A smaller 1.0-litre EcoBoost will also be available in Europe alongside a 1.6-litre TDCi ECOnetic, which produces just 94g/km of CO2 emissions. There’s also a 237bhp 2.0-litre EcoBoost plus two 2.0-litre TDCi diesels, and every engine gets automatic start/stop.

For eco-aware motorists and fleet managers, Ford will add a hybrid four-door salon to the range after launch. The powertrain will couple a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to produce 185bhp combined, emissions of 99g/km of CO2, and returns of up to 67.3mpg.

Who will the all-new Mondeo appeal to?

With its sophisticated new look the Mondeo is likely to turn the heads of fleet managers – as will its affordable price tag in comparison to similar models offered by Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Interior space remains just as generous as before, with an estate version adding to this, so it’s also sure to be a favourite among family motorists looking to upgrade.
