Ford Motor Company came away from the Euro NCAP 2012 Best-In-Class Awards with three of the seven trophies, topping every other manufacturer. The new Kuga, Transit Custom and B-MAX all received accolades from the organisation.
The Kuga achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating and a class-leading 88% for overall protection, putting it at the top of the SUV category, while the new Transit Custom won the Business and Family Vans segment as the first vehicle to earn the full five stars in its class. The B-MAX also achieved a high overall protection score, being rated at 83% and gaining five stars.
Stuart Southgate, Ford automotive safety director, commented, “Safety is a core value at Ford. For Euro NCAP to evaluate our vehicles and determine that they are segment leaders in their safety assessment is a wonderful recognition of the values and talent of our designers and engineers.”
Almost all of Ford’s new vehicles produced in the past few years have been awarded five stars by the independent safety authority, making the range one of Britain’s safest. The achievements of the Kuga, B-MAX and Transit Custom strengthen the brand’s position as a popular and reliable manufacturer.
