Ford Focus RS News
For several months, Ford has been treating us to teasers about the forthcoming Focus RS, whetting the appetites of petrol heads across the UK.
The latest news suggests that the third generation RS could be powered by a 2.3-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine, which is currently being developed in the States. Producing 330bhp, the new engine would deliver almost as much power as the limited edition 345bhp RS500.
The new Ford Focus RS is also likely to feature bigger brakes and stiffer suspension to retain the sporty drive and razor-sharp handling that makes it so popular.
Other rumours surrounding the model’s technical make-up suggest that an all-wheel drive version may be on the cards to present a stronger challenge to cars like the Volkswagen Golf R, and there’s talk of a mechanical slip differential being part of the standard spec.
The new Focus RS is due to go on sale in late 2013 – check back regularly for updates.
