Ford EcoSport Announced

New Ford EcoSport

Ford has announced that a baby brother to the rugged Kuga will be going on sale worldwide in 2013/2014 – the new Ford EcoSport. Expected to share a chassis and design language of the current Fiesta, the EcoSport is aimed at the compact SUV market.

Not much has been revealed about the model, which was unveiled at the New Dehli Auto Expo in January 2012 and was created in line with the brand’s One Ford initiative. Designed with bold styling and an aggressive stance, the EcoSport is all about providing space and practicality while retaining the agility and convenience of a smaller model.

A choice of diesel and petrol engines are rumoured to be available from launch and no doubt Ford’s latest green technology will be incorporated into the drivetrain to satisfy the demands of the modern driver.

Among its features, the new Ford EcoSport will be equipped with the Ford SYNC system, which enables drivers to select music and make phone calls via a voice-activation function. There will also be a range of driver-assistance technologies including ESP and Hill Launch Assist.

The new EcoSport is due for release next year.

One Response so far.

  1. Ecosport says:

Really looking forward to this – the Kuga has been a huge success for Ford and a baby Kuga / Compact SUV will be a massive rival to the likes of the Juke.

Anyone know when more details will be released? I would be expecting something soon if they are to meet their 2013 target date.
